stages playful and critical encounters with technologies of representation.&nbsp;they merge elements of performance, sculpture, photography and video to create environmental installations and standalone works that interrogate the social and psychic dynamics of territory, and the mutuality of identity, self, and place.fen has presented works and performances in solo and group exhibitions including Currents New Media, Harwood’s 6th Street Studio, STOA Center for Body Arts and Studies, The University of New Mexico Art Museum, Chispas Farm, and ABQ INT’L, among others. she is currently BLACKNESS AND BEING, WHERE “THE WEATHER” NAMES THE TOTALITY OF ANTIBLACKNESS AS AN ONGOING ATMOSPHERIC, AND ECOLOGICAL CONDITION—PERVASIVE , INESCAPABLE , AND STRUCTURING DAILY LIFE. COMPOSED OF SCULPTURAL AND TELEVISUAL WORKS, THE EXHIBITION CONSIDERS WHAT IT MEANS TO KNOW, INHABIT, AND RE-IMAGINE “PLACE” AS A SUBALTERN SUBJECT WHOSE ONTOLOGICAL EXISTENCE IS BOTH DENIED AND DENIABLE VIA THE MACHINATIONS OF COLONIZATION AND ITS CONCOMITANT NORMATIVE BIOCENTRIC LOGICS. STAGED IN A ROOFLESS, WINDOWLESS WAREHOUSE BUILDING OPEN DIRECTLY TO THE SKY, AND CENTERED AROUND A SCULPTURAL VESSEL THAT FUNCTIONS SIMULTANEOUSLY AS TRANSMITTER AND TRANSUBSTANTIATOR, THE WEATHER TREATS THE EXHIBITION VENUE ITSELF AS AN UNSTABLE, OCEANIC TERRAIN; A POETIC RECONSTRUCTION OF A LANDSCAPE THAT IS AT ONCE EXTERNALLY REPRESENTED AND INTERNALLY LIVED. RATHER THAN OFFERING NARRATIVES OR STRATEGIES OF REPAIR OR RETURN, THE WEATHER EMBRACES EXPOSURE, RUINATION, ALIENATION, AND OPACITY AS STRATEGIES FOR REMAINING AND NAVIGATING WITHIN THE “ONGOING CATASTROPHE”, PARTICULARLY THE AFTERLIVES AND CONTINUED UNFOLDINGS OF SLAVERY AND PROPERTY, DISPOSSESSION, UNBELONGING, AND PLACELESSNESS.
